Mathematics Challenge

Mathematics Challenge

Today for Mathematics we did Mr. Wong's Mathematics challenge. I refreshed my search and I did both my addition and subtraction sides. I tried to get everything right and I did. I also tried to answer all the questions. I really enjoyed doing this activity that Mr. Wong kindly created for us.

Decimals

Today for Mathematics we have doing Decimals. I created this DLO to explain to someone how to do decimals and what to when doing this type of strategy. What I did was to First look at the number that was the nearest to the whole number which was 8.1 then that turned into 8.0, than I added one to 6.5 which turned into 6.6. After that I added 6.6 and 8.0 together which equaled up to 14. 6. I really enjoyed doing this strategy because I learned to how to do Decimals.

9 x and 10 x times table strategy

Today for Mathematics I made a DLO that explained the strategy that I learned to solve the 9 x times table by using the 10 x times table. In my DLO I solved 9 x 9 and the answer to that is 81. By using the 10 x  times table I added 9 and 10 which equaled up to 90. Then I subtracted 9 from 90 and I ended up with the answer 81. I ended up with the answer that I got when I started the sum in the beginning. This is a easier way to solve your 9 x times table by using your 10 times table. It's a cool trick I learned that will really help me in Mathematics. I hope you learned a easier strategy to help you solve your 9 x times table.

Measuring Angles

Today for Mathematics we made this DLO about Measuring angles with protractors.  Did you know that a obtuse angle is more then 90 degrees and less than 180 degrees. In this DLO I explained the about the proper maths vocabulary I need to use when I am talking about angles. We also learned about the names of the angles and I added pictures to show what these angles look like.  I really enjoyed learning about these types of angles because I learned more about angles.

Addition / Place Value

Today for Mathematics we were learning about using Place Value to solve word problems. My word problem was 7656+1133. First I added the units which are 6+3 which equaled up to 9. After that I added the tens together which are 50+ 30 which added up to 90. Then I added up the hundreds which are 600+100 which equals 700. Then I added the thousands which are 7000+1000 which equaled 8000. Then I added 8000+700+80+9 which equal up to 8,789.
