Maori Pioneer Battalion -Timeline



Maori Pioneer Battalion - Timeline 
Today for Inquiry we have been learning about the Maori Pioneer Battalion. During the time we have been learning about this historic topic NZ history, we decided to create a timeline on the events that happened during that time and the date that they happened on. This activity was a time to be respectful and remember those who have lost their lives  for us to be here today. I worked collaboratively with Sky, Hajera and Brooklyn. This is the site were I got my information from.

Today for Inquiry we have been reminding ourselves about the facts we could remember. We had a task, where we thought of the questions to ask during the time of WW1. I worked with Hajera & we created this slide with questions and the answers we found after using our smart searching skills to find information. I really enjoyed this activity because I got to learn about different things that happened during that time.

Facts & Information - World War 1


Facts about WW1 

Today for Inquiry we were busy remembering our learning that we have done about WW1. For this task, each person had to work in groups two or three. So I decided to work with Magenta & Hajera. We worked collaboratively to create this DLO about the that each of us facts remembered. We only had five minutes to write down facts as we knew. One of the facts that I remembered was that youngest soldier in WW1 was 12 years old & his name was Sidney Lewis.

Sidu River Bridge

Sidu River Bridge 

Today for Inquiry our task was to use our google drawing tools to help us with creating a bridge that was somewhere around. I worked collaboratively with Chavda and we decided to create the Sidu River Bridge because it is famous around the world and in China. We really enjoyed creating this bridge because I got better at using my google drawing tools.

The Panmure Bridge 1865




The Panmure Bridge 1865 

Today for Inquiry Chavda and I created a DLO that looked like the Panmure Bridge in 1865. In this DLO I labeled the parts of the bridge, the steel truss that makes the bridge strong, the deck that holds the horses and people walk across it. The stones on the abutment and the Iron swing span to let vessels go through under. I collaboratively with her to create this bridge.

Bridge Building


Bridge Building

Today for Inquiry our groups were busy with bridge building. For our bridge, we decided to make a truss bridge. Yesterday we made the one side of the truss and dried our night but today we created our deck and the other side of the truss. We are waiting for it to dry and tomorrow we are assembling it tomorrow. I worked collaboratively with Hajera, Joshua V, and Viva.  All of our hard work paid off.  Everyone else in the other group's bridges looked really cool and I liked them all.

Auckland Harbour Bridge & Sydney Harbour Bridge


Today for Inquiry Mr Johnston showed us a slide he made about the history of bridges and different types of bridges.  We worked in pairs and I worked with Hajera. At the end of the slide he talked to us about our own countries bridge the Auckland Harbour Bridge. He told us about the history of the bridge, when the bridge was built, what is the bridge made of, , Future plans of the bridge and the fun facts about the bridge. We also made a Comparison between the Auckland Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Today for Inquiry we were busy learning about the human body system. We played this game to practice how much we know the human body. In this game I learned about the proper vocabulary to use when talking about the human. I really liked playing this game because I learned more about the human body.

Mnumonic




Today for Inquiry we were learning about  Ms Gren. Ms  Gren is a Mnemonic. Ms Grens is a Mnemonic that is about the things living and no living need. For example a human needs movement and a no living thing can't move. I really enjoyed doing this because I learned more about living and no living things. 

Lung Capacity in LS2



To compare the lung capacity of students in LS 2 we used one breath to blow up a balloon, then we measured the circumference of the balloon in cm. Then we could graph the results to compare them. 

3 Facts about this graph:

Julian got the highest balloon size which was 68. 
Alex, Ms Kirkpatrick, Sky and myself where 50. 
Avalon was the only person to who got 44.

The Unfinished Drink



Today we were reading about the " The Unfinished Drink" poem.  We worked in pairs I worked with Hajera. I this presentation we put in the poem that was made to be a memorial of the soldier. I really liked doing this presentation  because learned more " The Unfinished Drink" poem.

Today for Inquiry we were focused on the Olympics. Brooklyn and I made this DLO to explain the similarity between Panmure Bridges School and the Olympics. We compared the Olympics to Panmure Bridge School. We compared the Motto's and Values. We made a whakatauki  for the Olympic Games.

Collaborative Challenge



  Yesterday LS2 were doing collaborative challenge. I was in the group with Sa Kae , Oh Hsen and Christopher. We all worked really well and our group collaborated. Our task was to choose a country that celebrates Christmas and we were finding out some facts about that country. Our group choose Japan. We have learnt that the name for Santa in Japanese is Hotei Osho and I've also learnt what they eats for Christmas day. I've learnt a lot's about how Japan celebrates Christmas.

Fire Station

Yesterday  LS2 went to the Fire Station because this term we  have been busy learning about the people in our local community. The fire fighters cut open a car with a tools that are called 'jaws of life'. They used these cutters and spreaders to show us how they rescue people in cars. The fire service are also first responder's in a emergency. They gave us examples of how to avoid fires like switching off heaters and plugs while you sleep, or switching off the pan when you are not cooking. It was really fun and I learned a lot of new ways to stay safe.

Today for inquiry we have been explaining what you should do in a  emergency.  It also shows the number you should If there is a emergency. When you have a emergency you should stay calm and speak clearly. Stay  on the phone cell and  give as much information as possible.
