Samoan Language Week

This is week Samoan Language Week and I have learned so many facts about this wonderful language, their culture and how they have maintained their language. Most languages in NZ are starting to die out which is making people forget about their heritage. It is important to hold onto your language so that younger generations can know where they came from. In NZ they should let different languages be apart of a students school day.

History Of Te Reo Maori

The History of New Zealand

In New Zealand, the indigenous language is Te Reo Maori spoken by the indigenous people of Aotearoa but during the 1900s the langue was starting to dying out.
In schools, Te Reo Maori was banned as a language taught in classes because New Zealanders had gotten a mistaken idea by thinking that European history was more important then Maori history. This was because of the most the indigenous people moved to the countrysides and cities which made people forget their original roots. Now attitudes have changed and now people are fond of the culture and history and now Te Reo Maori is proudly taught in New Zealand schools.

This summary is about the history of Te Reo Maori and how it was about to die out because of the Maori people remembering how they are and where they come from. I learned so much about culture and history.

During the presentation our strengths were our speaking went well, the facts that we had were interesting. Our weaknesses and or the things we could improve are finishing of the slides & finding more sites to research on. In this presentation, I worked collaboratively with Penny. In this presentation, Penny and I researched on Italy.
