Summer Learning Journey Day 4 Activity 1 Week 1

Use Google to research traditional Māori Waiata. Listen to a number of Waiata and read the lyrics. On your blog tell us which one of the waiata you found you like the most. Why do you like it?

E Toru Nga Mea - Maori Waiata/ Hymn

I like it because the Waiata refer to God.

  1. Hi Nickaela,
This is one of my favourite activities as I am always looking forward to discover new waiata songs. I found that a waiata is such a powerful and emotional way to describe feelings and convey a message. My favourite waiata song is Aotearoa, specially the most recent version done by Stan walker. The Aotearoa waiata express feelings of connection to this land and connection of all people despite where they come from, because if we did choose New Zealand to call home we are all part of the spirit of this land.
In this post you mentioned that you chosen this specific waiata because it does refer to God. Could you expand a bit more on that? In which sense the song refer to God ?
Perhaps you could add a video of the song or the lyrics as this would help you to make your point clearly.
In order for you to gain full points for this activity I need you to elaborate more on your reasons why that you liked this specific waiata. Could you do that and let me know?
I am looking forward to reading your posts.
    Kia Kaha,
    Patricia
