HIIT

Today had HIIT, for this weeks workout we did Push ups, Squats, Tap Step and Star Jumps while we were doing the Tabata timing. During the workout we had some technical difficulties but we pushed on and kept going. We all in the red but two people left, we kept going and there was only one person but the clock was about and at the last second it became red and everyone was cheering and giving each other high fives. We did a really good job this week.

Tech Reflection

Today was our last day in Pewter Casting with Mr Grundy. What we did today some people were finishing of water sanding, some were taking there pendants home and some were finishing of there work books. I want to thank Mr Grundy for being our teacher for this rotation during Pewter Casting, we had a lot of fun while he was teaching us. In this rotation I managed to make a pendant and finish a box, which I gave to my mother and she really liked it. I can't wait for our next rotation.

Key into Evaluation- My best day

My best day

I was four and I had no one to play with. I always used to be sad, unhappy and lonely. But one day mom told me that she had a surprise for me and that I had to guess so I asked if it was a dog, “ she not quit ” , then I asked her if it was a barbie dream house, and she said “ not that close”.  Then she said have one more guess, I said a little brother and she yelled “ Yes finally you’ve got it ”.
Months went by as I waited for my little brother to come. Meanwhile my dad was trying to look for names to give my little brother.

Finally the day had come, there was water on the kitchen floor well I thought it was water until my dad told me what it actually was. My dad called my Aunt to come babysit us while they went to the hospital but I think he forgot that she already came. A night went by and my Aunt drove us to the hospital. My dad out a room and showed me and my older brother to our mom. She was so tired I could see it. My mom said that dad named him Griffin, I said Griffin that a cool name. I can't wait to tell everyone my special news.

Today for Reading working on a DLO about either the best day that we've ever had or the worst day that we've had, so I chose the best day. So wrote about the day got my little brother and in this I explained how I felt, what I was going to do and that I going to tell every one at school on Monday. I really liked doing this because I got to explain a very important day in my life.

Auckland Harbour Bridge & Sydney Harbour Bridge

Today for Inquiry Mr Johnston showed us a slide he made about the history of bridges and different types of bridges.  We worked in pairs and I worked with Hajera. At the end of the slide he talked to us about our own countries bridge the Auckland Harbour Bridge. He told us about the history of the bridge, when the bridge was built, what is the bridge made of, , Future plans of the bridge and the fun facts about the bridge. We also made a Comparison between the Auckland Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Decimals

Today for Mathematics we have doing Decimals. I created this DLO to explain to someone how to do decimals and what to when doing this type of strategy. What I did was to First look at the number that was the nearest to the whole number which was 8.1 then that turned into 8.0, than I added one to 6.5 which turned into 6.6. After that I added 6.6 and 8.0 together which equaled up to 14. 6. I really enjoyed doing this strategy because I learned to how to do Decimals.

Key Into Evaluation- Places to Visit in New York City

Today for Reading I was creating a DLO about 5 place around the Empire State Building that I would like to visit in New York City.  I chose these five places because I found interest in them Star bucks, Model scouts,  Spot Dessert Bar, Juvenex Spa, Panera Bread and the Empire State Building. I would actually one day want to visit these places when I am older. What I enjoyed about this task was to explore google maps and see what these places looked liked.

Read Theory - Progress

This is my graph for Read Theory. It shows the progress I've made in Reading. My three best scores are 100% for a quiz about being Afraid of flying, the second quiz I got 100 % for a quiz about a cheese hat and my third one I got 80 %  for a quiz about Party Planning. I've been trying to keep my pace and keep getting better scores Next time I will remember to go back and re- read my story to match my answer.

Key Into Evaluation - City Fitness

Today for reading I was creating a DLO about a gym in my local area. The gym I chose to was City Fitness, I chose this gym because I thought that looks like a very good gym and it's in my local area. I had to explain how much it costs to join, where it is and how old you need to be to join. I really enjoyed learning about this gym.

Tech

Today we had Tech at Tamaki College. This was our second to last session at Pewter Casting with Mr Grundy. Last week I took home my design home to give to my mom and I think she liked it very much because it was the best design for her that is why I chose the chef's hat. The thing I had to do was to finish my work book. I still have a couple more question to finish and then to find out what Pewter is to give me extra marks.

Sky Tower Trip

Today LS2, Rm 5 and LS1 had a trip to the Auckland Sky Tower. LS2 was split up into two groups to take tours around the Sky Tower. This was my first time ever being in the Sky Tower, so I was quite nervous and scared. Our group went into the elevator were there was a a whole in the elevator were there was a piece of glass inserted into the whole, we jumped, stomped and walked on the glass and it never broke and never even made a crack. The level we stopped at was level Forty- Five {45} which was the Main Observation Room, were we got see two people jump of. It was really cool and I was happy to see it. A huge thanks to my { father } Mr Dobson for helping take care of us and Really huge thanks to  Mr Dougles Bates for donating the money for our trip.

Maths Week- Scale Drawing

Last week we had Mathematics week. In LS2 we were creating scale drawings. This year I drew a bald eagle with all the details and features that I could think and find, I also looked for the right colours that make my eagle stand out. I tried to do the shading around the eyes to give that bold effect. The best part about my image was the detail that I put in it. What I found hard was to drawing the grid lines. The ratio for the grid lines 1:2. I think I did better then I did last year because I tried harder to make mine look good.
For most year 7's this was the first time they were doing it but for the year 8's this was there second time doing this so they got the hang of it. Next year in secondary school we will have similar subject, either Tech drawing or Graphics. This year I think more of my art skills have come out.

Wheel Words

Today for Reading we were busy doing Wheel words.  In wheel words we get to try and make words up by using the middle letter. I have only used two Hints to help me out. The word I have find difficult is Robberies. What I really like about Wheel Words is that I get to learn new words.

Cook Island Language Week

This week is Cook Island Language Week. We were busy learning the basic phrases for Cook Island island. I worked with Joel and Chavda and We had a conversation with each and recorded our
selves having a conversation in Cook Island Maori. The languages they speak is Cook island and Maori.

What we also did was get into five lines.

"PechaFlicker" Swimming

During this week we have been learning about how to make a PechaFlicker". What Iv'e learned is that when you link one story with another story by looking at pictures and that when someone is reading it they paint a picture with words to show not tell what is happening. We each made a recording of our selves telling our story. I worked collaboratively with my partner Avalon and we made a really amazing story by just exploring some pictures to go with our story. We have also been looking at different types of "PechaFlicker" like there was this one that I really like and it was about Dogs and we also looked at one about Friends and Family. It was fun to do because I got to tell a really good story with my pattern Avalon  by looking at photos.

Wheel Words

Today for Reading my group Rotorua and Motuihe were playing a game called Wheel words. Wheel words is a game where you have to make a word by using a letter on a wheel but there's a twist you are supposed to use the letter in the middle. We were only allowed to use three (3) hits and that was it, no more then that. I really enjoyed playing this game because it challenges your brain and makes you think out side of the box. This is a link to the game so you can enjoy playing it to Wheel words
