Today for Mrs. Anderson's writing group we were learning about Apostrophes. We learned where you use them and how to use them. For my examples, I used one sentence that doesn't have an apostrophe in it and wrote the sentence again and then I put the apostrophes in it. Did you now that an Apostrophe can be used in three ways like to mark possession, to mark contraction and mark plural single letters.

Making Connections- Sports News

Making Connections

Today for reading my group Rotorua were doing Reciprocal Reading and the book we read was called Sports News. This book was about all different types of sports that had its dangers but the people doing it knew how to keep themselves safe. What I liked about this story was that these were faced with challenges like having a disability or being too young but they still pulled through and reached the goals they set for themselves. This story was written by Jill Eggleton and Illustrated by Rob Keily. The pattern in this book was two hot sports then one cold one and it continued throughout the book. I really liked this book because it was inspirational.

Virtual Reality - Research

Virtual Reality - Research

Today Yvonne and her research team from the Augmented human lab at Auckland University came to do some research in LS2. This was all based on the subject we have been learning about in Inquiry. We were put into three groups and in each, they did different things. In my group, we did learning about how people traveled from Pakuranga to Panmure and how the Panmure Bridge was built and what materials were used. This was a recap of the work that we have been learning about for a couple of weeks. After the activity had finished we got pizza for all the kids whose parents signed the forms and we got a lot of pizza. Our school was the first in our area to take part in this amazing experiment. I would like to thank Yvonne and her team for doing this research and all had really great fun.

Reciprocal Reading

Today for Reading my group had Reciprocal Reading. We read a book about building that were built to last. We learned about different types of structures  and buildings around the world, we learned how old they were, how long it took and who designed it. Reciprocal reading is about when you Predict, Silent read, Clarify, Question and Summarize. After you have done all those stages you let the next person to become the leader and have a different about the next pages.
